WHARTON GRAD AND I-BANKER TO PEN WALL ST. PAGE-TURNER FOR STERLING & ROSS
RELEASE- December 24, 2010- New York, NY
New York publishing house Sterling & Ross has announced plans to publish AN UNHEDGED MAN, the Wall Street thriller authored by Michael Goodwin. Says Sterling & Ross Executive Editor Rachel Trusheim, "From our first meeting at the famed Grand Central Oyster Bar surrounded by Wall St. and Madison Ave power brokers, Mike's ability to set a scene and paint a picture was evident. We're delighted with the opportunity to bring Mike's timely and captivating book to market."
AN UNHEDGED MAN follows Seth Farragut, a young hedge fund manager, as his drive to take over a bankrupt auto supplier leads to an indictment for insider trading. A “vulture” investor who excels at high-stakes trading of distressed companies’ securities, he makes decisions that all too easily cost others their jobs and create plenty of enemies.
Under the influence of tough, attractive Lauren Hayward, he bets everything on the survival of a small Chicago manufacturing company that could, if he can rescue it, be his career-making score. But his quest spawns an attempted murder, suicide, and the prospect of years in prison. Meanwhile, in the background, Wall Street is in turmoil as the economy tumbles.
AN UNHEDGED MAN explores themes that are all over today’s news: the economic distress that has ravaged America’s heartland, the growing divide between the Haves and Have-nots, the rule of capitalists over the shrinking blue collar work force, and the stupendous wealth accumulation by a very few. Goodwin’s eye for detail brings the headlines to life.
“I wanted to write a novel that addresses the financial carnage of the past few years,” Goodwin says. “Although there have been several non-fiction accounts of these once-every-100-years events, I know of no fiction that has been published that weaves this period into the narrative. A good novel can add flesh to the skeletal history, spice up what can sometimes seem like arcane high finance. Readers of my novel will gain a true-to-life feel for what it means to be a hedge fund manager operating during these turbulent times.”
Goodwin is uniquely qualified to write a Great Recession novel. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Virginia with a degree in English Literature. He later obtained an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. While working for an investment bank in New York, he somehow managed to also attend Columbia University’s MFA program in creative writing. His previous novel, JUNK, was published in 2003 and also had Wall Street as its backdrop.
Goodwin says that Sterling & Ross particularly impressed him with its keen sense of what’s relevant in today’s marketplace. “S&R knows the market, how to market and how to expeditiously get to market. I found the people there to be both nimble and focused.”

STERLING & ROSS PUBLISHERS SIGNS ID THEFT EXPERT DENIS KELLY FOR GROUNDBREAKING BOOK TO PREVENT IDENTITY FROM BEING STOLEN
CONTACT: Julia Bodwell Sterling & Ross Publishers 212 244 2084 ext 113 julia@sterlingandross.com
August 30, 2010, New York, NY – New York publishing house Sterling & Ross has announced plans to publish IDCuffs CEO and Identity Ambassador Commission Chairman Denis G. Kelly’s new book THE OFFICIAL IDENTITY THEFT HANDBOOK: Your Identity Has Already Been Stolen, Find Out What You Can Do About It on December 7, 2010.
Says Sterling & Ross publisher Drew Nederpelt, “We jumped at the opportunity to work with Denis and his company because identity theft has elevated from a societal concern to an epidemic, and finally someone is tearing down the silos of misinformation to educate, protect and provide a voice for the innocent consumer.”
The book launch will coincide with the launch of Identity Ambassador, a company dedicated to educating and training consumers and professionals in the detection and prevention of identity theft.
In an October 2009 Gallup revealed that identity theft was the #1 concern among Americans.

THE OFFICIAL IDENTITY THEFT HANDBOOK aims to help alleviate the fears associated with identity theft through education and a unique, actionable plan for consumers to implement in their everyday lives. Included in the book are several controversial methods typically used only by ID theft experts that Kelly believes can be used by everyone in preventing the #1 crime fear for Americans today.
In searching for a partner, Kelly says there was only one choice: “S&R is a publisher that understands marketing and promotion is a pillar in the success of a book and not merely a building block. After conducting exhaustive due diligence, S&R emerged not only as the leader but as the only publisher that shared this belief and had the tangible proof to back it up.”
The book will also be used in the Identity Ambassador training programs to be rolled out nationally in December of 2010.
Denis G. Kelly is also the founder and CEO of IDCuffs which is an identity theft prevention and notification service launching simultaneously with Identity Ambassador.
